Dinosaur 10k
The Dinosaur 10k returns once again to the Kent running calendar in 2017. Named in memory of one of the clubs founders, Roger Francis-Darby, who during his competitive history referred to himself as an Old Dinosaur. The race donates a large percentage of profits from the race to the Canterbury Hospital Skin and Dermatology Department and Skin Cancer UK each year.
Using an accurately measured course, the undulating route uses the roads and promenade surrounding Walmer. With the final 4k along the flat seafront, with the right weather conditions, a fast time is definitely on the cards.
Facilities at the Walmer Sea Scout Hut are limited and runners are advised to arrive part-changed. There are public toilets nearby and also at the Walmer Paddling Pool.
Only limited parking is available on the public roads. There are car parks in Deal, limited additional parking may be provided at Deal Castle.
Prizes are awarded for leading runners and vets categories and team prizes for males (4 to score) and Females (3 to score). Prizes also on offer for first married couple and oldest finisher.
