The Event
The J’s Hospice ‘Chelmsford Marathon’ returns for its third year in 2016 to raise funds for young adults hospice care. Last year, the communities of Chelmsford and surrounding villages came out in their thousands to cheer and support the 800 runners, raising an amazing £65,000 for The J’s Hospice.
Using a virtually flat route this accurately measured single lap course starts outside Shire Hall in Chelmsford City Centre and takes runners along the high street and through to Chelmer village and then onto Writtle College and the villages of Roxwell and Willingale before finishing in Central Park.
The Marathon is organised by The J’s Hospice and managed on their behalf by Nice Work. The race is looking to attract runners of all abilities, from experienced athletes to those new to marathon running.
The race village will have toilets, baggage store, refreshment, trade stands and family friendly entertainment.
Prizes/trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male and Female; 1st in age categories from Vet 1 to Vet 8; 1st Male & Female affiliated team (3 to count).
The race includes a large selection of water and aid stations located at 8 points around the course.
There will be selected pacers on the course.
Please note there is a cut off time of 8 hours for the event due to health and safety reasons.
