RACE REPORT

STEPHEN Way (Bournemouth AC) won this year's Blackmore Vale Half Marathon, in 70:33, from last year's victor, Nathan Shrubb (Morpeth). Jacek Cieluszeki of Bournemouth finished 3rd.

The race, which took place in Bishops Caundle, saw 672 on the start line of the main race and 21 in the fun run.

Although the region had been hit by snow and ice the previous day, runners came from all over the south of England and conditions turned out to be near perfect. 

Votwo’s Mal Varbel won the women's race ahead of Liz Wiggins and Stephanie Slade.

The event has raised in excess of £4,000 for the Youth Cancer Trust and other good causes, and organisers would like to thank all the marshals and volunteers that helped make it happen.
