Following the stupendous success of last year’s inaugural event we are delighted to announce that entries are now open for 2012 – the event will be held on Sunday May 6th. As in 2011 the Stadium of Light will play host to thousands of participants eager to sample the festival atmosphere that made the Sunderland City 10K such a popular event. Each competitor is assured of a medal, technical t-shirt and event goody bag as well as free car parking and entertainment. ‘Athletic Club Challenge’ also returns to the event, only this time incorporating the new Marathon of the North. We urge all club runners to enter to maximise the chances of your club benefitting from the £500 first prize. The challenge will require each club to enter at least one Junior athlete, four runners in the 10K (with at least one female) and one in the Marathon of the North. The lowest cumulative time for the six club runners will be hailed Sunderland City Club Challenge Champions. We are also looking forward to providing a special Athletic Club chill out area for all affiliated athletes.
