Race organisers guide
The number of events currently taking place throughout the UK has increased greatly since the 1980s, and there are many coming fresh into the sport, either as participants or as organisers. This is especially noticeable regarding women runners, and Women Only events, which at this time, are still on the increase.
The standards and methods of organisation vary enormously, from the simple requirements of the Fun Run to-the year-round workload undertaken by major events. The race promoters, officials, runners, volunteers and the would be fund raiser, will find within this site most, if not all of the information needed for them to understand their role and duties in the overall plan of providing safe and enjoyable events.
In the year 2000, as part of the UKA Race Licence Application Form, there was the introduction of Licence Standards and the mandatory requirement for a Risk Assessment Appraisal, which must also include a medical provision risk assessment, to be undertaken by all Race Licence applicants.
The introduction of the Event Safety Code, recommendations for Medical Provision at Events and the Universal BARR/UKA Grading System, were all introduced to ensure that the Sport demonstrates, by implementation, a Duty of Care with regard to all who participate in Road Running and associated events irrespective of running ability.
There is also a Race Directors Newsletter that will provide updates on issues affecting Event Organisers along with topics of interest.

How do I know if my application for a road race licence is being processed. Filled the on-line forms a week ago and nothing back, not even an acknowledgement.
