Weekend update of racing records and outstanding UK performances

After the outstanding spectacle of the Diamond League from Monaco where Jake Wightman rose to numbertwo on the runbritain all time rankings for 1500m ahead of the icons that are Coe, Cram and Ovett. Laura Muir ran the fastest ever 1000m by a UK woman and Laura Weightman moved to Numbertwo on the runbritain all time rankings over 3000m. It was a wonderful night for British athletes with six setting personal bests at the Monaco Diamond League. Elsewhere there was a UK record for Lizzie Bird in the steeplechase and some tremendous junior performances.

More racing aces with top ranking performances in Manchester and Finland

Whilst many are opening up their seasonin Europe,the best of the recent performances arguablycame at the Trafford open meeting last night with a 1:44.75 800m performance from a 17 year old Halifax athlete. Melissa Courtney-Bryant and Phil Norman also headed up the runbritain national rankings after strong performances in Turku, Finland.

Weekend update includes bettering the UK best by Marc Scott

Top performances were seen on the roads of Lancashire over the weekend at both Clitheroe and Preston with Marc Scott (handicap -6.8) beating the UK best (subject to ratification) over 5k. Josh Kerr (handicap -6.4 ) and Jake Heywood (handicap -4.7) were performing in a tactical race over 800m in the USA whilst Manx athletes were showing great form on their island in the Irish Sea.

Recent racing update

Jemma Reekie again headed Laura Muir in a photo finish with a sub 2 minute 800m, in Italy. Josh Kerr moved to the top of the runbritain 1500m rankings. Ann Marie McGlynn continued her fine form with a 15:50 5k performance.
