Road season opens ahead of marathon majors

With the Berlin (Sept 26) and London Marathon (Oct 3) fast approaching the road season is well under way. There was a full programme of activities this weekend including the Northern Road Relays in Redcar and the Swansea Bay 10k in South Wales. Anna Bracegirdle had a breakthrough performance in Redcar running the fastest leg and leading Salford to gold. Richard Allen did likewise in the men's event for Leeds City.

The 2021 Montane Dragon's Back Race lived up to its billing as the 'world's toughest mountain race', with only 25% of starters expected to finish the full course in the time allowed. Simon Roberts became the first Welsh winner of the race, which followed the mountainous spine of Wales from north to south, starting at Conwy Castle and finishing for the first time at Cardiff Castle.

2021 Montane Dragon’s Back Race - update 2

The weather and the racing heated up on day two of the 2021 Montane Dragon's Back Race. The race headed out over 3400m of rugged terrain and complete another 59km of the beautiful Welsh landscape. As temperatures soared to around 30 degrees Celsius, the leading competitors employed different tactics to try and gain an advantage on the course.
