The Abbots Langley Tough Ten – Can you handle it? A long-time favourite race, the Tough Ten returns in 2022 for its 40th year. A real family event that appeals to runners of all ages and abilities, the event features a 10k, 5k, 3k and 1k – so there really is a race for everybody. The event attracts great support from the community by testing runners on scenic and accurately measured courses. The Abbots Langley Tough Ten is registered Charity (No. 1163519), raising funds to help local clubs and charities continue with their good work, to assist schools with special projects and individual beneficiaries to improve their quality of life. It is an annual community event which attracts a wide range of runners – from the seriously competitive to those looking to complete their first race. About the Event: Race start times Each race will start promptly at the following times: 10K - 10.30 am 5K - 10.00 am 3K - 10.00 am 1K - 9.30 am The Route The 10K and 5k courses are accurately measured and take you along quiet lanes in and around the pretty villages of Abbots Langley, Bedmond, and Kings Langley. Although the start is on grass, the rest of the routes are on tarmac roads and so we’d recommend road shoes. The routes are genuinely undulating with no significant hills – and the races are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. Race Details: Timing There will be chip timing for the 10K, 5K, and 3K races. The 1k is an untimed fun run for youngsters. Race Licence This event is fully licenced by UK Athletics and held under their rules. Age Limits The race is suitable for experienced runners and beginners alike. The minimum ages on race day are 15 years for the 10k, 11 years for the 5k, 9 years for the 3k and no age limits for the 1k. Race Number Information Race numbers for the event will be posted to all runners approximately 10 days before race day. If you have entered within 10 days of the event your race number will be waiting for you to collect on the morning of the event from Race HQ at the Community Centre. Headphones As the event is run under UK Athletics rules and takes place on open roads headphones are not permitted to be worn during the event. Bone conducting headphones however are currently permitted under UKA Rules. Prizes All race finishers will receive a bespoke medal on completion of the race. There are prizes in the 10k for the leading men, women, fastest under 18, leading vet categories and teams (four to score). There will be 5k trophies to the first three under 15. Prize giving and presentation will be at approximately midday. Nice Work are responsible for Chip Timing & Entry Management Services for the event.
