Stanwick 10k
The Stanwick 10k road race is annual event that takes place every Easter Monday. It is a community event that is organised by volunteers within the village to raise money for local charities and community groups. This year, as in previous years, the event's main sponsor is UPN (United Pallet Network).
The road race starts and finishes in the centre of the village with the single lap route following the local roads and lanes over gently undulating terrain. As well as the main 10k run for adults there is a fun run for under 15s of around 2 km that takes place between the start and finish of the main race.
Chip timing is planned for the event with official times being taken from the starting signal to crossing the finishing mat. If available, times will also be provided for crossing the starting mat so that personal mat to mat times can be calculated. Trophies and small cash prizes are awarded for a range of categories including special prizes for the fastest Stanwick resident runners. A medal is given to every runner completing the course.
There is a presidents trophy for the best men's and women's team times. Team times are calculated using the official times of the first 3 runners from a UKA affiliated club.
Changing facilities are normally provided at the village football club and car parking facilities are available just on the outskirts of the village. There is a bag store, first aid and toilet facilities inside the Stanwick Village Hall as well as stores and refreshments for sale, including the famous bacon butties...
