The Royton Trail - The 15th Royton Trail
This is the 15th staging of The Royton Trail. In previous years our race limit was reached via online entries, so there were no entries on the day. The race will start at 7.30pm prompt.
The course is slightly different to previous years - it is now slightly longer (just over 10K) with the Race HQ and start/finish at Royton Cricket Club (OL2 5TX), the home of Royton Road Runners. The start/finish line is on the cricket field.
The course is made up of undulating lanes and paths in the Tandle Hill Park area. Subject to weather conditions trail shoes are advised, unfortunately this means it is not suitable for wheelchair athletes. Some short sections of the course will be open to traffic - while this should only be very light please be careful and respect other road users, especially horse riders for whom the area is popular.
Please allow plenty of time to park vehicles. Parking is limited at the cricket club so please car share if at all possible. Once the club car park is full it is advisable to use the public car parks in Royton town centre, approx 5 mins walk away from Race HQ.
The inaugural 5.5 mile Royton Trail race was held on 18th July 2007 when a total of 72 runners took part. The size of the race has gradually increased over subsequent years, attracting runners of all standards, with a record 322 finishers in July 2017.
The race is chip timed.
