A year in numbers: Race Directors' update

Oxford Half Marathon start

You may already know that runbritain’s online entry service is free for all licensed races (with the exception of card charges deducted by the card companies), but did you know that it’s the fastest growing online entry service in the UK with 325 races in 2012 alone, compared to 251 in 2011?

Licensed races are also on the increase, with 2,013 this year compared to 2,001 in 2011.

Other benefits of runbritain's Race Directors' Portal, which can be accessed from the runbritain site, include access to the new Race Directors' Handbook (supported by nine Fact Sheets) which will be published on the website in January 2013.

In addition, Race Directors’ courses are now operating on a demand-driven basis.

The next events are an Intermediate Course in the South East and an Accredited Course in the Midlands; if you’re interested or want more details please contact runbritain’s Road Race Co-ordinator Gavin Lightwood: glightwood@uka.org.uk

Finally, and since the new position was introduced, we now have 250 Event Adjudicators who work with runbritain and each event’s Race Director to ensure that the race is staged to approved licence standards. Event Adjudicators are selected from current endurance officials, race organisers and BARR officials. Again, if you’re interested in such a role please contact Gavin Lightwood.
