Fielding and Braham win 2022 Ealing Half Marathon

Ealing was buzzing over the weekend, with runners, supporters, residents, and volunteers celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Ealing Half Marathon on the streets of the borough – which also included the popular Ealing Mini Mile on Saturday - had been eagerly awaited, with over 5,000 runners signed up.

Sunday morning saw light clouds and unseasonably warm temperatures as the runners were lining up on the start line. Official starter Kelvin Walker, co-founder of the Ealing Half Marathon, sent the runners on their way at 9am before joining the running crowd.

John Fielding (handicap -3.4), in his first half marathon, took theEaling Half title in a time of 68:35 after pulling away from runner up Elias Ahmed (handicap -3.1) who finished in 68:53. Jonathan Poole (handicap -2.6) our returning champion,took third place in 71:04.

Alice Braham (handciap 1.6) was the fastest in the women’s field and took the title in 78:23, ahead of Sarah Gerrie (handicap 5.8 ) who finished in 78:59. Kelly Clark (handicap 4.3) came third after crossing the finish line in 79:03.

The single lap 13.1 mile course started and finished in Lammas Park and took in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens.

The top three men and women were awarded with a cash prize and Altra trainers from Up & Running, and all age group winners as well as the fastest Ealing residents and the best fancy dress received Up & Running prizes also.

Runners from 92 different running clubs were taking part, including over 305 members from the Ealing Eagles Running Club. Many runners could also be seen in charity vests, raising valuable funds for lots of different charities including Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and Meadow House Hospice.

Ealing Mini Mile took place in Lammas Park from 12 noon on Saturday 24th September, with the biggest ever field of young runners signed up and a total of eight races across the various age categories. This year’s finisher‘s t-shirt featured a designed by Iva from St Augustine’s school in Ealing.

The winners of the 2022 Ealing Mini Mile in the different age categories were:

Arthur Poole (Family Mini Mile); Mack Thomas and Lily Milanov (6 year olds); Joshua Heath and Jessica Lennon (7 year olds); Dejan Luzajic and Cissie Bootman (8 year olds); Noah Liborg and Alexia Gaudin (9 year olds); Mikal Hashim and Violet Muralidhar(10 year olds); Jack Hayward Sofia Mossi(11 year olds); Dominic Quinn and Naimah Mossi (12-16 year olds).

Sponsors and partners of Ealing Half Marathon 2022 included IKON Dental Specialists, Up & Running, Ealing Trailfinders, Ealing Fitness Clinic, Forester Pub, The Green Quarter and EHM Legacy CIC. The 11th year race will be taking place on Sunday 24th September 2023 and entries open at 1pm on 26th September with places starting at just £29 for the first 200 entrants and then the event is turning back time to 2012 prices at just£32 and £34 for a limited time only so runners need to be quick to grab a place in West London's best half marathon at these knockdown prices.
