Home Run London Olympic Games update

Home RunSamsung Electronics, the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the wireless communications equipment category, announced its partnership with Home Run London on Monday 9 July to create a series of free, guided group runs designed to offer a healthy and enjoyable alternative to the usual post-work commute...and on Friday 27 July - to coincide with the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony - the Samsung Home Run Games-time operation has launched with 44 Home Runs per week and delivering six routes on every week day of the Games.

Home Run London participants are encouraged to download Samsung’s charity app; the Samsung Hope Relay, and help Samsung raise money for charity. Those taking part in the Home Run will be able to download the Samsung Hope Relay application to most smart-phones and for every mile run Samsung will be donating £1 to the Hope Relay’s designated charity partners - Kids Company and International Inspiration.

Andy Griffiths, Managing Director, Samsung UK & Ireland said: “The partnership between Samsung and Home Run London is a great opportunity for Londoners to get fit during London 2012 and raise money for the charitable causes, Kids Company and International Inspiration. It is designed to encourage commuters to help us at Samsung raise money for these vital causes in a fun and imaginative way. We are very excited about the partnership which allows people to get into the Olympic spirit in a way that will leave a lasting legacy beyond London 2012.”

Home Runs range between 2 to 6 miles, cater for all levels and are conducted at ‘chatting pace’. At the time of the initial launch there were over 15 routes across the capital including Oxford Circus to Finsbury Park, Bank to Clapham Junction and Liverpool Street to Stratford.

And now, with the launch of the Samsung Home Run Games-time operation, there are 44 Home Runs per week that will deliver six routes on every week day of the Games.
