History of the event
Manchester Harriers & A.C. are bringing back the Manchester Mile, which was originally run in 1943 until the ealry 1950s when Frank Evans won it three years on the row and gained the trophy outright.
David Coleman, BBC Sports Commentator, who covered many athletic events including the London Marathon and the Olympic Games, won the race in 1949 and was the only non-international runner to do so. David was a member of Manchster A. C. in his athletic days. He passed away in 2013 and, with the support of his family, the Manchester Mile is now held in his memory.
