Research into mental toughness

Club runners

Have you ran a marathon in the last 18 months ? Are you a masters athlete over the age of 40? Can you spare ten minutes to complete a questionnaire on Mental Toughness?

Ian Campbell is a Masters student from the School of Life Sciences and Sport at Edinburgh Napier University and is working on a research project on Mental Toughness in Masters Marathon Runners. This study will investigate the impact that mental toughness has on performance, training and other aspects of runners’ lives. The findings of the project will be useful to identify how masters marathon runners are motivated and if aspects of mental toughness enable them to cope with the challenges they face both in their sport and in everyday life. This questionnaire should take no longer than 10 minutes.  Participants will be free to withdraw from the study at any stage and would not be asked to give a reason. The results will be published as part of a masters thesis or in an appropriate journal thereafter.
