Tikiboo are thrilled to announce Alzheimer’s Research UK as their new charity partner for 2020. The one-year partnership will see the brand raise upwards of £20,000 for the charity.

Tikiboo, a multi-award winning activewear brand known for producing bright and colourful activewear with unwavering performance, have created an exclusive collection for the charity that will boast a range of exercise vests, hoodies and leggings. The collection will launch on Tikiboo’s website on 26 February 2020, with the aim of encouraging people to reduce their risk of developing dementia by being physically active.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to researching causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Tikiboo’s bespoke collection will see a 20% donation from each product sale go back to the charity to help fund a broad range of research projects to help better understand the diseases, like Alzheimer’s, that cause dementia.

Tikiboo’s latest collection takes inspiration from the charity’s campaign #ShareTheOrange, designed to confront misconceptions surrounding dementia. The campaign highlights that dementia is caused by physical diseases, most commonly Alzheimer’s. A brain with Alzheimer’s disease can weigh 140g less than a healthy one, which is approximately the weight of an orange. But through research, diseases can be stopped, and Alzheimer’s Research UK is on a mission to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025. To help raise awareness of the campaign, orange is the primary colour splashed throughout the new Tikiboo collection.

Commenting on the new partnership Faye and Daniel Jobbins, co-founders of Tikiboo, said: “Dementia affects so many people, and there is currently no cure for the condition. While we are still trying to better understand the causes of dementia, we do know that risk factors for cardiovascular disease (like high blood pressure and high cholesterol) are also risk factors for dementia. So, we've created an activewear collection in support of Alzheimer's Research UK to encourage people to look after their brain health by being physically active, which will help them to lower their risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia.

They summarised: “Our collection is vibrant and fun, so you can wear each piece knowing that being active needn't be boring – do something you enjoy, like dancing, walking or group running, and feel how great moving is for the brain and the body!"

Lucy Squance, Director of Supporter-Led Fundraising at Alzheimer's Research UK, says: “We’re delighted to bring Tikiboo onboard as an activewear partner, and we’re excited to see the launch of this new product line, which has been exclusively designed to support our pioneering research. This collection will raise vital funds and significantly help Alzheimer’s Research UK to bring about life-changing treatments and preventions for dementia. We know that up to a third of dementia cases could be down to risk factors in our control to change, such as eating a healthy balanced diet and exercising. We hope that the collection will inspire people to become even more aware of the fantastic health benefits that physical activity offers, while also funding the research that will transform the lives of everyone affected by dementia.”

Founded in 2014, Faye and Daniel created Tikiboo to celebrate being active. Their unique and colourful designs ensure that the wearer always stands out from the crowd. The duo and their experienced team handle everything inhouse, which has meant that their new Alzheimer’s Research UK collection has been created and aligned to the fun design style that Tikiboo are known for.

The new range will be available to buy online from www.tikiboo.co.uk from 26 February 2020 and will be available to purchase all year round.
