Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English events feature across the country

The big fields were at the Chiltern League that also incorporated the British Cross Challenge at the weekend as many athletes fine tuned themselves ahead of the upcoming European Cross Country Championships in December. Other big cross country events were at the Scottish Short Championships and also in Ireland for the Uneven and Novice championships. The Gwent League had a high turnout too.

Bud's Birmingham family fun run raises £87,000

'Bud's Run', at the University of Birmingham raised over £7,000 recently, bringing the annual event's overall fundraising total to £87,000. This was the fifth year that Bud's Run has taken place and it supports charity Parkinson's UK's pioneering research to find a cure for the condition.

Leeds and Mansfield see stellar competitions

There were some great races over the weekend includingthe ECCA cross country relays held on Saturday,at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield. On Sunday, in the Leeds Abbey Dash, runners were greeted with perfect autumn weather. Upcoming stars. AdamCraig and Fionnula Ross,shone through with 29:08 and 33:30 PB winning performances whilst the Richard Burton 10k threw together an impressive field with Matt Clowes claiming the win in 30:28.
